I am a Professor of New Media Technology at MODUL University Vienna, and the Managing Director of webLyzard technology. Prior to my current appointments, I held professorships at the University of Western Australia and Graz University of Technology, and was a Visiting Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley. My doctoral research and habilitation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business focused on management information system. Additionally, I hold a PhD from the University of Vienna’s Department of Sports Physiology. As the author of about 160 refereed publications and the editor of two books in Springer’s Advanced Information and Knowledge Processing Series, I currently serve as the scientific coordinator or work package leader in a number of European research initiatives including ASAP, DecarboNet, InVID and Pheme – focusing on Web intelligence and big data analytics, knowledge verification, human-computer interaction, and the integration of semantic and geospatial Web technology.
